Another potential collaboration comes from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). The network with NTUST was initiated by Putu Doddy Sutrisna, S.T., M.Sc. (Ubaya Head Chemical Engineering Department) who met Prof Ju Yi Hsu from NTUST on Regional Symposium on Chemical Engineering (RSCE) in Hanoi, Vietnam last 2005.

That time, Putu Doddy proposed the possibility to cooperate with NTUST Chemical Engineering Department. Then, 4 years later, the cooperation comes into a concrete action when NTUST invited Putu to visit its campus on 2-6 June 2009.

What an opportunity to visit NTUST. During the visit, Putu was conducting meeting and discussion with Prof. Ou (Dean of Engineering College), Prof. Terrence Lee (Dean of International Affairs), Prof. J.C. Liu (Coordinator of International Academic Program at Chemical Engineering Department, and several NTUST Chemical Engineering lecturers.

During that meeting, Putu had the opportunity to introduce and present Ubaya in general and Chemical Engineering Department in more specific. In general, the result of the meeting was the conformity of both Ubaya and NTUST to strengthen their cooperation. For example, NTUST agrees to grant full scholarship for Ubaya students or lecturers who wish to continue their Master and Doctorate degree. Besides, both agree to conduct joint research and student exchange program. Having student exchange program enables Ubaya students who conduct their final thesis to carry out the thesis in NTUST. What a potential cooperation that will be useful for Ubaya and Chemical Engineering Department. To date, there are several Ubaya alumni who continue their Master degree at NTUST. In future, both institutions hope that will be some more students coming to NTUST. Indeed, Putu believes that the cooperation will be useful for Ubaya and Chemical Engineering Department.
