In order to provide greater impact, the research conducted by higher education institution must be synergized with the activity of industry in its surroundings. In relevant to that, on 1 May 2010 at Ubaya Faculty of Business and Economics multifunction hall, Product Design Lab, Ubaya Faculty of Engineering invited practitioners from various industries to the event called INNOVATION DAY 2010.

In order to provide greater impact, the research conducted by higher education institution must be synergized with the activity of industry in its surroundings. In relevant to that, on 1 May 2010 at Ubaya Faculty of Business and Economics multifunction hall, Product Design Lab, Ubaya Faculty of Engineering invited practitioners from various industries to the event called INNOVATION DAY 2010.

This INNOVATION DAY 2010 event consists of a seminar about the latest technology in design sector and an exhibition of innovative designs from Ubaya Product Design and Management Department students.


Besides academic civitas and practitioners, the event was also attended by high school and vocational school teachers. According to Jaya Suteja, S.T., M.Sc. as PIC of the event, “We invite teachers to broaden their horizon about industry. Hence, we hope they can disseminate it to their students.”

He added that after the event, Product Design lab will explore cooperation with several industries in Surabaya and surrounding area. “There is a company in West Surabaya that is interested to partner in designing household appliances such as pan and pot,” he said. This head of Product Design lab revealed the prospect of such event to be an income generator from Ubaya besides from students’ tuition fee.
