Ubaya Team won the 5th place on World level Competition of the 2010 PolyU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Student Challenge

Ubaya team that consisted of Melati Ekawati (Ubaya Faculty of Business and Economics-FBE Marketing student), Andrian Soejoto (FBE accounting student), William Firman (Ubaya Faculty of Engineering-FT Industrial department student), and Yusuf Adi Pura (FT Industrial department student) and mentored by 2 Ubaya lecturers namely Silvia Margaretha, SE, MM and Zulaicha Parastuty ST MSc finally concluded its participation on The 2010 PolyU Innovation & Entrepreneurship Student Challenge competition held on 3-9 June 2010 at Polytechnic University Hong Kong. On that event, Ubaya team with its Chloro Cell product competed with 25 teams worldwide and participated on final round of 2 categories namely: Best of the Best Commercial Award and Business Plan.

For Commercial Award category, Ubaya team won the 5th place but failed to reach the 1st place. The 1st place is HEC Montreal Canada with its product of MTL Ventures. While, under Business Plan category, Ubaya team failed to be the best 5. The 1st winner for Business Plan category is John Hopkins University USA with its product of SurgyPack, followed by University of Central Lancashire, UK; QUT (Australia),  Shanghai Jiao Tong University China; and McMaster University Canada.

In general, the team learns many things from this prestige event. Firstly, it gives self confidence for Ubaya lecturers and students that they actually able to compete on world level competition. Secondly, the awareness of world community to business concept that strives to humanistic value and ecology should be a good guide how should the Indonesian university curriculum be developed in future. Thirdly, the synergy among faculty in Ubaya should be strengthened aims to generate more powerful international competitiveness for Ubaya.

For the achievement, all Ubaya community congratulates the effort of Ubaya team to try their best aims to strengthen Ubaya name and Indonesia. Another thank you goes to Ubaya Language Center (ULC) that has prepared the team with the presentation skills in English. Last but not least, thank you for all FBE leaders, FT leaders, Ubaya leaders, Ubaya FENC, EFA Net, undergraduate and postgraduate alumni as well as all relevant parties that has supported the team. Hopefully next year will be better in order to realize Ubaya dream to become a world-class university.
