Ubaya Manufacturing Engineering Department Introduces Energy Saving Lights to SMEs

Ubaya encourages public especially Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to be more aware towards energy saving issue. Having that intention, Ubaya through its Manufacturing Engineering Department organizes Energy Saving Light Assembly Training on 23-28 August 2010. There are 20 SMEs from Surabaya and Sidoarjo participate on the training that is held at Ubaya Teaching Industry building.

To organize this training, Ubaya is collaborating with Electronics Industry Directorate as well as Ir. Syarif Hidayat MM as Director of Transport and Telematics Equipment Industry, Indonesian Ministry of Industry. Opened by Susila Candra as Head of Manufacturing Engineering Department, Ir. Benny Lianto ST MMBAT as Ubaya Faculty of Engineering Dean also attended the event.

On this training, participants are invited to learn more about the role of Indonesian National Standard upon LHE as well as SNI 04-6504-2001 that is used as standard to produce LHE. The materials discuss more about the implementation of SNI upon LHE industry and introduction to SNI 04-6504-2001 LHE that is better known as swa ballast light.

Opened with introduction of LHE components, participants are taught the working mechanism of LHE to save energy. Participants then receive valuable knowledge about LHE industry including the safety and mechanism of that industry. This activity is very realistic and suitable with SMEs level. I hope Ubaya is still willing to further assist us especially on the implementation stage,” hoped Arif Harianto, one of the participants.

Ir. Syarif Hidayat MM as Director of Transport and Telematics Equipment Industry, Indonesian Ministry of Industry also praised this Ubaya event. According to him, Ubaya as a prominent university has helped government in providing education services for the community. Recognizing Ubaya facilities, Sharif hopes Ubaya could become a partner for SMEs to develop their unit activities. “The weakness of SMEs is they don’t have experts to analyze something. Yet, Ubaya has provided the answer to that weakness,” ended Sharif.
