It is the intention of the Manufacturing Engineering Department Ubaya to take an active role in developing manufacturing industry in Indonesia by delivering quality education programme in manufacturing engineering. Manufacturing Engineering programme is designed to generate Bachelors of Engineering who are competence to design and develop products in effective and efficient ways.  In order to reach that competency, the students are enriched with the competency to properly design and develop products using conventional methods as well as modern methods of computer and automation based technologies (CAD/CAM, and CNC).

The Manufacturing Engineering curriculum is directed  to place a good foundation on mathematics, mechanical engineering, engineering materials study, basic and intermediate engineering sciences, high technology application, industrial automation, and automation theories as well as basic economic analysis and production management knowledge.

For the competency development of the graduates, the learning process in Manufacturing Engineering Programme is implemented by combining theory and application. Besides doing the face to face meeting, the learning process is also done through project based, and also laboratory based.

In order to support the learning process, the Manufacturing Engineering provides various comprehensive equipments. The equipments include production machineries of metal and wooden machineries, both manually operated machinery, and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) based machinery; material testing machinery and computer programme for product design CAD/CAM. All of the equipments are located in the Product Design Laboratory and the Manufacturing System and Technology Laboratory. Besides that, in an effort to enrich students with a work design system, the manufacturing engineering also provides Work Design and Ergonomic Laboratory under Industrial Engineering Department.

The field of interests under the Manufacturing Engineering are:
  • Production Technique and Management
  • Product Design

Students are obliged to take a work placement in industry relevant with their own field of interest. A work placement aims to provide students with experience and practical knowledge to support their professional development. Besides that, the students who have earned the minimum of 122 SKS with the minimum IPK of 2,00 are obliged to apply for the final thesis. The final thesis is aimed to explore a greater depth of understanding over a scientific knowledge and to accustom students with the process of dissemination and implementation of scientific knowledge. Having the aforementioned curriculum, the graduates from Manufacturing Engineering Programme are expected to possess basic knowledge, professional competency, and ability in product design and product development process.

Besides that, the graduates are also expected to be able to utilise the high technology and to possess the business competency and production management competency. The graduates from Manufacturing Engineering Programme are indeed expected to be ready to compete in job markets, especially for the field of product design, process design and production management. The concepts and the methods of product development are comprehensively studied and cover all of the aspects related to added value, quality, and reliability of products.

Manufacturing Engineering Curriculum

The general requirements to become a graduate:
- Have earned the minimum of 144 SKS
